🌳 Free Walking Meditations
What this is...
Walking meditations are a practice of slowing down to be in the present moment with the landscape, allowing the contact with the places we’re in to be the focus of our attention. If sitting meditation has ever been difficult for you, this is a great alternative that is more active, engaging, and allows for deepening into our curiosity, intuition, and the senses.
No experience is needed. Free to join. Donations welcome but not expected. Please RSVP here (scroll down to sign up) or on Facebook.
Where this comes from...
Over the past year, I’ve been in an ongoing process of learning to live with burnout after years of working in the U.S. mental health system.
What supported me wasn’t going further inward or trying to carry everything within myself. It was slowing down and spending time outside connecting with trees, soil, birds, rocks, fresh air, water…letting my system settle through that contact.
Something about being in relationship with the land restored me in ways I hadn’t found elsewhere.
This work is emerging and growing from that place.
What the walk feels like...
We’ll move together through the landscape with gentle guidance along the way. I’ll offer simple invitations to help you settle into your body, your senses, and the environment around you, so you don’t have to think about what to do or how to do it.
At the same time, everything is optional. You’re always encouraged to follow your own rhythm, to pause, wander, or simply be as you are. The invitations are there as support, not something to get right.
After each of the invitations, we’ll pause and sit together for a bit, with space for optional sharing. If it feels helpful, you can bring a journal, simple art materials, tarot cards, or anything else that supports you in your process.
Silence is always welcome, and you’re free to participate in whatever way feels most natural to you.
What you might notice...
Sometimes people leave feeling:
… a bit more settled and calm
… a bit more connected to the body and ground
… a bit more able to slow down and breathe
… a little less alone in what they’re carrying
… a sense of being supported by something beyond themselves
Whatever you’re arriving with is welcome here...there’s space for quiet, for rest, and for whatever might move or soften along the way.

Walking Nature Meditation: Vettakolen
Welcome to a gentle space to slow down together in nature. We’ll wander up Vettakollen, taking time to notice how beautiful the landscape is on the way up just as much as the breathtaking view of Oslofjord at the top. We'll move at a slow, unhurried pace so we may come into closer connection with the smooth bedrock, moss and lichen, and the pine, spruce, and birch trees.
The practical details...
Free to join. Donations welcome but not expected.
Vettakolen: The walk will begin and end at Vettakolen metro station.

Saturday August 22 10:00-13:00
What to bring:
~ A water bottle
~ Snacks and/or a meal
~ Extra clothing layers and rain gear in case it gets cold or wet
~ A waterproof pad to sit on
What to wear:
~Comfortable clothing and shoes with good grip (like sneakers or light hiking shoes), as parts of the path are smooth rock
We will go out rain or shine . The group will be limited to 12 participants. Feel free to reach out with questions or scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up.
Getting there:
Take the metro (T-bane) to Vettakolen station. For this you will need a zone 1 ticket through the Ruter app. The walk will begin and end at Vettakolen metro station.
A note about accessibility…
The walk is slow and spacious, with plenty of pauses, but it does take place on natural terrain.
The path to the viewpoint is often steep with an ascent of ~180 meters over ~1.2km. The path often meanders over exposed bedrock, uneven ground, roots, and rocks that we’ll be stepping over. The invitation throughout the walk is to move slowly and intentionally, so you will be encouraged to move at a pace that feels right for your body, choosing each step carefully.
There are no restroom facilities along the route, so it’s best to plan ahead before we begin. If needed during the walk, you’re welcome to step off the path and find a quiet, private place.
The route is not wheelchair accessible. To support a quiet and slow pace, the space is intended for adults. If you’re unsure whether this would feel supportive for your body, you’re very welcome to reach out and I’m happy to talk it through with you.
